Workstation Setup

Note that Lyon will not run under any 64-bit operating system.  To run under Microsoft Vista on a computer with a 64-bit CPU, you must uninstall your 64-bit Vista and install a 32-bit Operating System such as Windows 2000 Professional, XP or a 32-bit version of Vista.

The following assumes that Lyon is installed on a remote host and that you have mapped a drive letter to that computer's share.  We recommend that the remote share be set up such that your workstation sees the \CHARTER (or \LYON if appropriate) directory (rather than its content).  We also assume that your mapping uses drive letter F, so that F:\CHARTER contains a batch file named CHARTER.BAT.

Right click on an empty place on your desktop and select New
Click Shortcut
Either type F:\CHARTER\CHARTER.BAT or navigate to it
Hit the <SPACE BAR> and then type a unique name.  I type " JOHN".  The unique name identifies your computer on the host
Click Next
If you don't like the default name CHARTER.BAT, change it.  Otherwise, click Finish
Right click on your new CHARTER icon and then left click on Properties
Click the Font tab and select 10 x 18 in Size
Click the Layout tab and make sure both Height values are set to 80
Click the Options tab and set Windowed in Display options
Click Apply then click OK
Run Lyon (double click your new icon)
If your setup was correct, you will see a screen showing today's date.  Hit <ENTER>.
In Master Menu, confirm that the unique name you typed into your shortcut appears in the uppper left corner of the screen.
Select <F2> #5 Computer Definition and set all the drive letters in the bottom to match the drive mapping, which in our example above is F.  Set the Monitor type to 0.  Hit <F1> to save your changes.
Select <F2> #2 and select the correct company ID.

Test.  This means that you select a module you know should work and make sure no errors occur when it is selected.  You should also make sure that printing is set up correctly.  The easiest way to test printing is to select <F2> #4 Company Listing.  For most, the correct entry in Print configuration file is 1:NULL
